Aeropuerto Rivera

The Rivera Airport modernization project is part of a comprehensive plan to improve the airport infrastructure outside the capital, with the goal of strengthening regional and international connectivity. The architectural proposal seeks to generate a common identity among the renovated airport terminals, while also reflecting the airport's unique characteristics, giving it a recognizable and contemporary image.
The project includes four main axes: the renovation of the existing facilities to optimize their functionality and comfort; the expansion of the passenger terminal with a new volume that houses immigration, waiting rooms, services, and Duty Free; the construction of a separate building for the Fire Station; and the reconfiguration of the parking area to improve traffic, lighting, and security.

At MAG, we collaborated in generating documentation based on the BIM model and participated in coordination with various consultants to ensure design consistency and precision at every stage. Our work contributed to the integration of the new structures with the existing buildings, optimizing the interior spaces and ensuring the airport's functional continuity.
The proposal respects the existing features of the site, incorporating improvements to the original double-height terminal and its office connector, as well as strategically integrating new structures such as vehicle access control. The materiality and architectural language, with an emphasis on wood and uniform signage, reinforce the identity of the complex and consolidate a modern and unified image for the country's airport network.
